broken wall - collection
The Broken Wall series is an exploration of fragility, transformation, and the tension between destruction and preservation. Each piece appears as though a section of concrete has been torn from a wall and preserved in time, as if to capture the moment of rupture before it vanishes entirely. Through the use of cardboard, plaster, spray paint, and acrylics, I create these dynamic works that embody both decay and resilience.
In this series, the wall symbolizes both barriers and boundaries—physical, emotional, or societal—that can either protect or imprison. By removing a fragment of it and immortalizing it, I aim to evoke a deeper reflection on how we often need to break down these walls to make space for growth, understanding, and change. The materials used—rough, industrial, yet carefully manipulated—serve to amplify the contrast between destruction and preservation, as well as the beauty found in imperfection.
The process itself is one of controlled chaos, where the energy of the break is channeled into a moment of creation. The interplay between the raw texture of the concrete and the fluidity of paint creates a visual tension, drawing attention to the contrasts inherent in our own experiences—how we often have to break down old structures to build something new. The wall, though cracked and fractured, becomes an emblem of resilience, of holding on while simultaneously letting go.
Broken Wall challenges the viewer to reconsider the boundaries they encounter, whether they be physical, emotional, or cultural. It speaks to the potential of destruction as a necessary prelude to evolution, urging us to embrace the broken as a part of the whole. This series is a testament to the power of change and the beauty that lies in the fragments we often overlook.
